Yay! Spring is here! What a winter Ken and I had living in
our RV. It was so cold that our water froze and we had to haul it over from the
house. That lasted for seven weeks. Lisa and Jay wanted us to come and live in
the house with them but, no, we were warm and comfortable in our RV. Anyway, we
have water again which has made it easier for us. We will be able to start
building our new home soon and the goal is to be in it by Labour Day. Fingers
crossed!
Happy New Year?
Happy New Year? Not really. I don’t want to sound like
Debbie Downer here but it wasn’t the best Christmas and New Year we ever had.
On the 23rd of December, a very dear long time friend of ours was
diagnosed with a hideous disease. I won’t share all the details as to protect
his grieving family, but this man, (I will call him Joe), was a friend of our
family for over 35 years. He even spoke at my daughter’s wedding.
Joe was diagnosed with cancer. After doing several tests, it
was determined that Joe had cancer everywhere. On New Years’ Eve, he had a
stroke and was rushed to the hospital. New Year’s Day, he had what the doctors referred
to as a life ending stroke. He lingered in the hospital for several days and on
January 5th, two days before his birthday, he passed away. His wife
and children, who of course have also been our friends for that length of time,
were shocked and devastated. It blew us all away. His extended family and
friends were at least able to go and see him before he passed. Rest in Peace my
dear friend!
Traffic Circles and Chickens
I’ve been a busy lady lately. We have all been working hard
around our new home and property raking leaves and tearing out things we really
didn’t care for such as shrubs and bushes. The men have been trimming trees and doing
general yard maintenance before the snow flies. Ken and I love this new place
even though it does come with a lot of work. We feel it will help us stay
active in our later years. I remember an elderly gentleman warning Ken about
that when Ken told him a few years ago that we wanted to sell our house and
downsize. He laughed and said “You don’t want to do that because you’ll just
get fat and lazy.” So, the fact that we live here, proves we listened to him as
we find there is always something that needs doing.
