Summer Vacation part 1

It’s been an eventful summer. Fortunately, we have been able to get away several times to camp and holiday not including the seven weeks we spent at Wood Lake RV Park waiting to get onto our new property. By the way, if you plan on making reservations at Wood Lake RV Park, make sure you get a quote emailed to you as when we arrived, the price went up dramatically. We were under such stress to find a place to stay, that we didn’t bother to get anything in writing, so we weren’t able to prove what was said in the original conversation. Enough about that!

As we do every year, we spent the July long weekend at Pillar Lake Resort with Lindy and the boys; also with our friends, Paul and Wendy. The weather was great so Ken managed to get in some fishing with the boys. We did a little bit of swimming even though it isn’t really a lake you would typically swim in.

February 2016

It has been a very eventful month for Ken and I. We started it off by celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. My how the time flies: we were married in Ken’s parents’ living room with a total of eighteen people in attendance. My brother Jim who is a pastor preformed the ceremony in the early evening on February 7^th 1976. Fast forward to today. Ken and I have had a pretty wonderful life together raising our two beautiful daughters. Like most marriages, it has had its ups and downs but we have been very fortunate that we have always landed on our feet.

Thanksgiving Weekend

Thanksgiving weekend at our house is always a busy one. Back in the day when I worked at Ticket Master I would work the morning shift then come home and as I like to put it, build my pumpkin pies. It takes several hours as they aren’t just pumpkin pies. Oh no, not in this house, they have to be pumpkin chiffon pies. That means a lot more time is spent because once the pumpkin and all the seasonings are cooked, you have to wait for it to cool down so you can proceed with the rest of the recipe. It was usually early evening before I was done. Now, however since I set my own hours with my little cleaning company, the weekends are all mine. This last one was of course Thanksgiving. I had those suckers built and in the fridge by 2pm.

Okanagan Science Centre

If you have nothing to do and you have children or grandchildren to entertain, why not give the Okanagan Science Centre a visit? It's very easy to find. It's located just out side of Polson Park in Vernon.

Ken and I spent a Saturday afternoon of the August long weekend with Lindy and the boys at the Okanagan Science Centre in Vernon B.C. It was some place I had never been before but Ken had taken the boys last year and Lucas wanted to go again. At first I thought I would stay home and let them do their thing; at the last moment I decided what the heck I’ll tag along. I’m glad I did.

A Belly Ache for Sure

Weekends are for camping, whenever we can get away. We often take family. One of our favourite places to go is Pillar Lake Resort near Falkland BC. On this trip we took our youngest daughter and her two boys. We also had a furry visitor. We named him George - George the Gopher.

He kept popping his head out and watching everything we were doing. He was not at all afraid. He seemed curious more than anything. I was surprised how we were able to continue with the things you do around a campsite and he just hung out and watched us.
