Summer Vacation part 2

My goodness, the time goes by so fast. I just realized I haven’t written a story for my blog recently. We have been so busy since we have moved onto our new property. The place needed some attention as the previous owner let it go a bit. We’ve had lawns to cut, trees to trim and just plain general maintenance.

Grand Coulee Dam

Ken and I spent a week traveling just over the border in Washington State. We go down there usually twice a year. The Canadian long weekend in May is always spent with friends at Oroville State Park which is about five minutes from the border. Quite often it’s our first camping trip of the year so we are ready to blow of some steam and just relax, ready a good book and in the late afternoon and evening gather around the campfire with all our friends and have a few cold ones, a few laughs and sometimes some singing and dancing. It’s all good fun.

Nelson and Kaslo B.C.

Another stop on our summer vacation was Nelson and Kaslo B.C. Situated in the heart of the Kootneys, these two places are a must see if you like the feel of a laid back type of life style. There is no hustle or bustle here. The architecture is from a bygone era, with not much renovating as far as I could tell. I found people to be very friendly and helpful. We wandered up and down Baker St. in Nelson one afternoon and stuck our heads into most of the shops and of course the Kootenay Bakery Cafe because they had an amazing assortment of goodies.

A Belly Ache for Sure

Weekends are for camping, whenever we can get away. We often take family. One of our favourite places to go is Pillar Lake Resort near Falkland BC. On this trip we took our youngest daughter and her two boys. We also had a furry visitor. We named him George - George the Gopher.

He kept popping his head out and watching everything we were doing. He was not at all afraid. He seemed curious more than anything. I was surprised how we were able to continue with the things you do around a campsite and he just hung out and watched us.
